The Tax Policy Department
The Tax Policy Department (TPD) is a specialized department under the Directorate of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) of Uganda.
Core mandate
- Formulate tax and non-tax revenue policies to maximize domestic revenue generation.
- Design tax environments that stimulate investment, promote economic growth, and boost export competitiveness.
- Review and draft amendments to tax legislation, including the Income Tax, VAT, Excise Tariff, and Stamp Acts.
