The Tax Policy Department

The Tax Policy Department (TPD) is a specialized department under the Directorate of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) of Uganda.

Core mandate

  1. Formulate tax and non-tax revenue policies to maximize domestic revenue generation.
  2. Design tax environments that stimulate investment, promote economic growth, and boost export competitiveness.
  3. Review and draft amendments to tax legislation, including the Income Tax, VAT, Excise Tariff, and Stamp Acts.
